How to read this table

The first row is the base. A delta is the other car minus that base. Width excludes mirrors. Height is to the roof. Wheelbase is the distance between the axles. Where two rows share a name, the year token is the label. The figures are read from the sheets.

Three rows are a Model Y, and they are not three trims of one exterior. The base is the 2025 refresh, the indexed sheet. A duplicate refresh sheet is not indexed and is not linked. The second row is the 2021 original. The third is the Tesla Model Y L, model year 2025. The two five-seat rows share a name, so the year separates them. The Xiaomi YU7 and the Rivian R2 are context. The Model Y L has no pair page with either five-seat sheet. Its model page is the link.

Refresh against the original

The 2021 Tesla Model Y differs by −43 mm in length, +1 mm in width, +3 mm in height and 0 mm in wheelbase. Wheelbase matches. Width and height barely move. Length is the change, and it is a short one: the refresh is the longer of the two five-seat sheets. That is a bumper difference, not a new cabin. A kerbside space with very little spare length may need a check, because of that length difference. This guide does not claim the longer refresh fits.

Each of those two sheets publishes its own boot figure. This guide does not rank them. Open the model pages if the boot is the question. The body comparison is the length delta above, on a shared wheelbase.

Model Y L

The Tesla Model Y L differs by +182 mm in length, 0 mm in width, +47 mm in height and +150 mm in wheelbase. Width matches the refresh. Length, height and wheelbase do not. This is the six-seat Model Y L as sold in China. The sheet is the China-market record. This guide does not claim the car is sold in Europe. The extra length and wheelbase are the six-seat layout, not a long bumper on the five-seat cabin.

The cargo figure on the Model Y L sheet is a maximum, not a boot behind the seats, so it is not quoted. There is no pair page with the refresh or the original. The model page is the link.

YU7 and R2, for scale

The Xiaomi YU7 differs by +205 mm in length, +76 mm in width, −13 mm in height and +110 mm in wheelbase. It is longer and wider than the refresh, and a little lower. It is the longest car in the table. The sheet is an Egypt-market record of Chinese-market dimensions, which is a separate question from the Model Y refresh.

The Rivian R2 differs by −72 mm in length, −15 mm in width, +78 mm in height and +46 mm in wheelbase. The model year is 2026. It is the shortest car in the table and the narrowest, and it is the tallest. It is here so the Model Y length has a second marker, not as the subject of the page.

A UK garage bay

The UK preset is 5000 mm long, 2500 mm wide and 2100 mm high. The door rule is 300 mm on each side. The walkway rule is 600 mm of spare length. Mirrors stay off the width. The allowance is 220 mm on each side and is not added.

The 2025 sheet has 206 mm of spare length and 290 mm at each door. The 2021 sheet has 249 mm spare and 289.5 mm at each door. The Tesla Model Y L has 24 mm spare and 290 mm at each door, with 432 mm under the ceiling. All three are short of the door rule, and the spare lengths are short of the walkway. The six-seat car is the one close to the preset's length. On the single-car preset of 6706 mm by 3658 mm, its spare length is 1730 mm and its side gap is 869 mm.

Tesla Model Y misses the 300 mm door rule by 10 mm; Tesla Model Y misses the 300 mm door rule by 10.5 mm; Tesla Model Y L misses the 300 mm door rule by 10 mm.

What the figures do not say

The refresh and the original are a small exterior change. The Model Y L is not that change stretched. Its length and wheelbase are a different body, on a China-market sheet. Boot ranking is left out, including the Model Y L maximum. Turning figures are not cited.

Width excludes mirrors on every row, including the two five-seat sheets whose widths almost match. A duplicate refresh sheet stays unlinked. Price, range and which seats are fitted in a given market are outside this comparison. The pair pages cover the refresh against the original, and the context cars. They do not cover the Model Y L.

The UK preset is 5000 mm long, 2500 mm wide and 2100 mm high. Door clearance is the bay width minus the car width, halved. Doors are clear at 300 mm or more on each side. The rear walkway is clear at 600 mm or more of spare length. Official width excludes mirrors. The tool's mirror allowance is 220 mm on each side, and this table does not add that allowance.
