BYD Sealion 7 size next to the cars people cross-shop

The BYD Sealion 7 EV in this table is the 2025 EV sheet, 4830 mm long, with a boot of 500 litres. The BYD Atto 8 is the only one of these cars that is longer.

What the table measures

Updated: 3 November 2026.

Dimensions come from our car dataset, which records manufacturer figures. A delta is the other car minus the Sealion 7, so a negative length is a shorter car. Width is body width and leaves the mirrors out. Height is to the roof. Wheelbase is the distance between the axles. Nothing in the table is typed by hand.

The base row is the BYD Sealion 7 EV. There is a second Sealion 7 sheet, the BYD Sealion 7, with the same length, width, height and wheelbase and a different boot. That earlier sheet is the last row, so the exterior deltas on it are zero. The boot used for the headline car is the 2025 EV figure of 500 litres. The earlier sheet lists 520 litres. Those are different published boots, not two readings of one test.

Model Y and Deepal S07

The Tesla Model Y differs by −36 mm in length, −5 mm in width, +1 mm in height and −40 mm in wheelbase. This is the indexed Model Y sheet. A duplicate sheet is not indexed and is not linked, because its length and height differ. The indexed boot is 835 litres.

The Deepal S07 differs by −80 mm in length, +5 mm in width, +5 mm in height and −30 mm in wheelbase. The sheet's model year is 2026 and its year span is open, so the row is not a single calendar year. The boot on that sheet is 445 litres. It is a little shorter and a little wider than the Sealion 7, with a taller roof and a shorter wheelbase. The extra width is the figure a narrow bay notices. The shorter length is what a short driveway notices.

Sealion 5, EV5 and Atto 3 Evo

The BYD Sealion 5 differs by −92 mm in length, −65 mm in width, +90 mm in height and −218 mm in wheelbase. It is shorter, narrower and clearly taller, and the wheelbase is much shorter. The boot on this sheet is 463 litres. It is a different BYD SUV, not a short version of the Sealion 7 with the same cabin.

The Kia EV5 differs by −220 mm in length, −50 mm in width, +55 mm in height and −180 mm in wheelbase. The boot figure on the sheet is 566 litres. It sits well below the Sealion 7 on length and wheelbase, and it is taller. Someone cross-shopping these two is choosing a smaller footprint, not a trim.

The BYD ATTO 3 EVO differs by −375 mm in length, −50 mm in width, −5 mm in height and −210 mm in wheelbase. The boot is 490 litres. It is the compact BYD in this set. The height is close to the Sealion 7. The length and the wheelbase are not.

The AU offer

As of 2 November 2026, BYD Australia lists a $4,000 (inc. GST) cashback on the Sealion 7 Premium and Performance for orders placed from 1 October 2026 to 21 December 2026 and delivered by 31 December 2026. An extension may be approved after a review. Fleet, demonstrator and service-loan cars are excluded, and so is any deal that already carries another offer. Check the offers page before you rely on it. The offer changes what you pay, not what fits in your garage: it moves no part of the table above.

Omoda E5 and Atto 8

The Omoda E5 differs by −406 mm in length, −95 mm in width, −32 mm in height and −300 mm in wheelbase. The boot on the indexed sheet is 380 litres. Our Omoda sheet says this car is also sold as the Chery E5. The Chery E5 page in the catalogue is the same size and is not indexed, so this guide links the Omoda page only. Say Chery E5 (sold as Omoda E5 in some markets) when that is the car in front of you. The dimensions in the table are the indexed Omoda sheet.

The BYD Atto 8 differs by +210 mm in length, +75 mm in width, +140 mm in height and +20 mm in wheelbase. It is longer, wider and taller, with a slightly longer wheelbase. The boot on the indexed sheet is 270 litres. A Mexico DM-P twin of the Atto 8 is not indexed and is not linked. That twin records a different width, so it is not the car in this table. The indexed Atto 8 is the one to open when the question is the larger BYD.

What the size does and does not decide

Length, width and height answer three different bay questions. The garage section uses the tool's UK preset and its door and walkway rules. It does not invent an Australian garage, and it does not add mirrors back onto the body width.

Boot litres are the figure on each sheet, not one cargo test. Use the model page for the boot and the table for the body.

BYD Sealion 7 EV misses the 300 mm door rule by 12.5 mm; Tesla Model Y misses the 300 mm door rule by 10 mm; Deepal S07 misses the 300 mm door rule by 15 mm.

The UK preset is 5000 mm long, 2500 mm wide and 2100 mm high. Door clearance is the bay width minus the car width, halved. Doors are clear at 300 mm or more on each side. The rear walkway is clear at 600 mm or more of spare length. Official width excludes mirrors. The tool's mirror allowance is 220 mm on each side, and this table does not add that allowance.
