How to read this table

Updated: 3 November 2026.

The first row is the base. A delta is the other car minus the Land Cruiser FJ. A negative number is smaller than the FJ; a positive number is larger. Width is body width and excludes mirrors. Height is to the roof. Wheelbase is the distance between the axles. Nothing in the table is typed by hand.

The base is the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, model year 2026. The height on this sheet is 1960 mm. Later rows are the previous Toyota FJ Cruiser, the Mahindra Thar ROXX, the two-door Ford Bronco, the Toyota RAV4, the Defender 90 and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The Defender row is the 90. The Defender and the Wrangler Unlimited are context rows: their model pages are linked, and they have no pair page with the FJ.

The previous FJ Cruiser

The Toyota FJ Cruiser differs by +95 mm in length, +50 mm in width, −130 mm in height and +110 mm in wheelbase. The sheet's model year is 2006, and it is the predecessor in this catalogue. The new FJ is shorter and narrower, and it is taller, with a shorter wheelbase. The extra height is what a ceiling notices. The shorter length is what a short driveway notices.

Thar ROXX, Bronco, Defender 90 and Wrangler

The Mahindra Thar ROXX differs by −147 mm in length, +15 mm in width, −37 mm in height and +270 mm in wheelbase. It is shorter and a little wider, and lower, with a much longer wheelbase inside a shorter body.

The Ford Bronco differs by −164 mm in length, +73 mm in width, −134 mm in height and −30 mm in wheelbase. This row is the two-door base. Other Bronco sheets are not linked. It is wider than the FJ, and lower. The shortest car in the table is the Ford Bronco.

The Defender 90, listed as the Land Rover Defender from model year 2019, differs by +8 mm in length, +153 mm in width, +14 mm in height and +7 mm in wheelbase. Length and wheelbase are close to the FJ. The widest car in the table is the Land Rover Defender. The tallest is the Land Rover Defender. On the UK preset its side gap is 246 mm, which is under the door rule of 300 mm.

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited differs by +210 mm in length, +22 mm in width, −92 mm in height and +428 mm in wheelbase. The model year is 2026. It is a little wider than the FJ, and lower, with a much longer wheelbase. The longest car in the table is the Toyota 4Runner. The Wrangler Unlimited is a context row. There is no pair page with the FJ.

The RAV4 as a family SUV

The Toyota RAV4 differs by +25 mm in length, 0 mm in width, −300 mm in height and +110 mm in wheelbase. Width matches the FJ. Length is a small step the other way, +25 mm. Height is the whole story. The lowest car in the table is the Toyota RAV4.

The 4Runner

The Toyota 4Runner is larger than the FJ in length (+375 mm), width (+125 mm) and wheelbase (+270 mm). Those figures are our dataset. There is no pair page with the FJ, so only the model page is linked. Boots are not compared.

A UK garage bay

The check uses the garage-bay tool's UK preset: 5000 mm long, 2500 mm wide and 2100 mm high. Doors are clear at 300 mm on each side. The rear walkway is clear at 600 mm of spare length. Mirrors stay excluded. The mirror allowance of 220 mm on each side is not added.

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ has 322.5 mm at each door, 425 mm of spare length and 140 mm under the ceiling. The side gap clears the door rule. The spare length does not clear the walkway. The ceiling gap is the tight one. The Toyota FJ Cruiser has 297.5 mm at each door and 330 mm spare, so it is short of both rules. The Mahindra Thar ROXX has 315 mm at each door and 572 mm spare: the doors clear, and the walkway does not.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ clears the 300 mm door rule by 22.5 mm; Toyota FJ Cruiser misses the 300 mm door rule by 2.5 mm; Mahindra Thar ROXX clears the 300 mm door rule by 15 mm.

What the figures do not say

Boot litres are not compared. The sheets do not share one measuring basis, so a larger published number would not mean a larger boot. Use the model page when the boot is the question. Turning figures are left out. The sheets do not measure them the same way.

Width excludes mirrors on every row. A bay that clears the body can still be tight once the mirrors stick out. Price and what the car is like off the road are outside this comparison.

The UK preset is 5000 mm long, 2500 mm wide and 2100 mm high. Door clearance is the bay width minus the car width, halved. Doors are clear at 300 mm or more on each side. The rear walkway is clear at 600 mm or more of spare length. Official width excludes mirrors. The tool's mirror allowance is 220 mm on each side, and this table does not add that allowance.
