The cabin has hard plastics and Stepway-branded seats with upright seating for good headroom. Manual air conditioning is standard along with a CD radio that has MP3 playback. No advanced driver aids like cameras or sensors appear in the equipment lists.

The 1.5 dCi diesel returns 5.3 litres per 100 km combined with 140 g/km CO2. The 1.6 MPI petrol uses 7.6 litres per 100 km combined and 180 g/km CO2. Both run on a 50-litre tank.
Petrol versions need service every 30 000 km. Diesel versions every 20 000 km. Warranty covers three years or 100 000 km, plus six years against rust and two years on paint.
Euro NCAP gave the base model three stars for adult protection and four for children. Standard kit includes ABS, emergency brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, driver and passenger front airbags, height-adjustable front belts and headrests, three rear headrests and ISOFIX. A safety pack with side airbags raises adult protection to four-star equivalent.
The car sits on the Renault B platform with programmed crumple zones. Raised ground clearance of 175 mm and roof bars suit light unpaved use. Parts stay cheap and the simple mechanical layout keeps upkeep straightforward.
