The cabin uses a standard 9-inch portrait touchscreen with Google built-in services plus wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Dual-zone climate control is standard across the range. Cruise control is standard, with adaptive cruise and Pilot Assist on higher trims. Front and rear parking sensors plus a reversing camera are standard. 360-degree camera is trim-dependent. City Safety automatic emergency braking and lane keeping aid are standard. Blind spot warning with steer assist appears on Plus and Ultimate grades.

The C40 Recharge runs solely on electricity. There is no fuel tank and no engine oil to change. Pre-conditioning of the cabin and battery can be set from the app so the car is ready when you leave.
Routine service is needed only every two years or 18 000 miles. Brake fluid is changed every two years and the cabin filter is replaced at each visit. Wear items such as pads and tyres are the main consumables.
Euro NCAP gave the car five stars. Standard kit includes dual front, side and curtain airbags plus a centre airbag, driver knee airbag, run-off-road protection, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert.
An eight-year battery warranty and a three-year vehicle warranty cover the main components. Software updates arrive over the air. The fixed panoramic roof has no moving parts and needs little attention.
