The Taigo runs exclusively on efficient turbo petrol engines. Official WLTP combined figures sit in the low-to-mid 5 l/100 km range for the smaller 1.0 TSI units and rise slightly for the 1.5 TSI. Real-world use typically stays close to those numbers on mixed roads.
Service intervals follow Volkswagen’s flexible Longlife system, which can stretch to 30 000 km or two years based on driving style. A fixed schedule of roughly 10 000 miles or twelve months is also available. An inspection service falls due around the third year or 40 000 miles.
Euro NCAP awarded the Taigo five stars in 2022. Adult protection scored 94 percent and child protection 84 percent. Standard kit includes multiple airbags with a centre airbag, Front Assist autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Lane Assist, fatigue detection, ESC, tyre-pressure monitoring and eCall.
A three-year or 60 000-mile warranty is standard. The car uses a tyre mobility kit rather than a full spare on most versions. Routine items such as pollen filters and brake fluid follow the usual two-year cycle.
