Volkswagen ID.Buzz 2022– car dimensions: 4712 mm long, 1985 mm wide and 1927 mm high. Unladen weight is 2,471 kg. Braked towing is 1,000 kg.

The cabin has a high seating position with a digital cockpit and 10-inch touchscreen as standard, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Climatronic climate control is fitted, along with a multifunction steering wheel. Driver aids include Front Assist automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Lane Assist, and front and rear parking sensors. Adaptive cruise control, Side Assist blind spot warning and a reversing camera are available on higher trims or as options.

The load space offers 3.9 cubic metres and fits two Euro pallets. Maximum loading length is 2208 mm with a tailgate or 2232 mm with wing doors, with a lowish sill height around 623-632 mm.

Braked towing capacity is 1000 kg on a 12 percent incline, with unbraked at 750 kg. Maximum payload is around 650 kg on a 3000 kg GVW. Later versions offer up to 1200 kg braked towing and payloads from 516 kg to over 700 kg depending on battery and drive.

The cab feels car-like and spacious with a high driving position, good visibility and supportive front seats that include heating as standard on most versions. Power adjustment with memory and massage is available on higher grades. Dual sliding doors ease access, ambient lighting and digital displays add a modern touch, and the layout stays practical with useful storage while remaining quieter than typical vans.

Fully electric powertrain with lithium-ion battery options around 77-86 kWh net.

DC fast charging up to 170-200 kW. 5-80% in around 30 minutes.

Service intervals typically every 1-2 years or per vehicle display, with brake fluid and cabin filter changes.

Euro NCAP 5-star rating for passenger models. Platinum rating for Cargo van safety.

Standard kit includes Front Assist AEB with pedestrian/cyclist detection, Lane Assist, Driver Alert, multiple airbags including centre airbag, and eCall.

The ID.Buzz Van runs fully electric with rear-wheel drive as standard and optional higher-output dual-motor setups in later years. Usable battery capacity starts near 77 kWh with WLTP ranges commonly quoted in the 250-plus mile area depending on configuration and conditions. AC charging is rated at 11 kW while DC rapid charging reaches 170 kW or higher on updated batteries, enabling a 5-to-80 percent top-up in roughly half an hour at compatible stations. Plug & Charge and app-based preconditioning support everyday use.

Servicing is simpler than a combustion van. Inspection intervals are set at one or two years (or by the onboard indicator) with focus on brakes, filters, tyres, software and high-voltage system checks. Some markets include multi-year service packs covering inspections, brake fluid and pollen filters plus the first MOT. The high-voltage battery carries an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty in many regions. Over-the-air updates handle software for infotainment, charging and assist systems.

Safety equipment is extensive from the base Cargo models. Standard features cover autonomous emergency braking that detects vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, lane-keeping assistance, driver alertness monitoring, adaptive cruise on higher grades, tyre-pressure monitoring and a full set of airbags that includes a centre airbag between the front seats. Euro NCAP awarded five stars to the passenger ID.Buzz and a Platinum commercial-van rating to the Cargo for its assist systems. Proactive occupant protection and eCall are also fitted.

Living with the van centres on the electric architecture and connectivity. Battery Care Mode can limit charge to 80 percent for longevity, stationary climate control preconditions the cabin while plugged in, and We Connect services handle remote functions and service scheduling. The low centre of gravity and multi-link rear suspension deliver car-like composure, while the fixed bulkhead and wooden load floor suit commercial duty. Regular tyre and brake checks remain the main wear items.
