The cabin has a polished walnut-veneered facia and door cappings with black PVC leathercloth upholstery and trim. Jaeger instruments include a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge. There is a manual heater with direction control and single-speed fan, plus flap-type door pockets, lockable cubby and map case. Reversing lamps are fitted and a radio was optional. Front seats tip for rear access and stay up. The driving position has a low-set leather-covered three-spoke wheel but offset pedals and restricted elbow room.
The boot lid is self-supporting. Capacity is not very large, though the car offers a useful boot for a four-seater convertible of the period, with the fuel tank located on one side.
Overdrive was optional on the four-speed all-synchromesh gearbox. The Mk II has revised rear suspension with lower wishbones and Rotoflex couplings for better handling. No factory towing or payload figures appear in period specifications.
The cabin has a polished walnut-veneered facia and matching door cappings with black PVC leathercloth upholstery and trim. The heater has a notchy control knob, heat-direction knob and single-speed fan. quarter-lights open for ventilation but the handbook notes a window should be cracked if the fan runs. Interior space is compact with restricted elbow room. Pile carpets, vanity mirror, roof and facia lamps, lockable cubby and map case are present. The 1998 cc straight-six runs on petrol via twin Stromberg carburettors. Period tests record fuel use of roughly 25 mpg overall, with 29 mpg possible using overdrive on a run. The tank holds 8¾ gallons and has a reserve control that yields a short extra range.
The forward-opening bonnet gives excellent engine access for routine checks. Dipstick and washer bottle are easy to reach. Overdrive is an optional extra on the four-speed all-synchromesh gearbox.
Standard brakes are discs at the front and drums at the rear. The collapsible telescopic steering column is carried over from the Herald. Mounting points for seat belts are fitted. belts themselves were typically optional or added by the dealer. Four headlamps give a good beam.
The separate chassis and body construction simplifies mechanical work. Rotoflex couplings on the Mk II rear suspension need periodic attention. Keep the chassis rails and outriggers sound and watch for oil leaks from engine and gearbox.
