Hybrids run on regular unleaded petrol from a 60-litre tank and deliver strong official economy figures in Japanese testing. The 2.4-litre turbo petrol needs premium fuel and holds more in the tank but uses more fuel overall. Both setups sit on the TNGA platform with efficient hybrid or direct-injection tech.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the range and includes pre-collision braking that works with pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles, plus lane tracing, full-speed radar cruise and adaptive lights. Blind-spot monitoring, panoramic view camera and parking support brake appear on most versions. Six airbags protect every row.
The car scored four stars overall in Japan’s 2023 safety assessment, with near-top marks for active safety and solid crash protection. Pedestrian head protection was the main area that held it back from five stars. Automatic emergency call is fitted as standard.
Routine care follows normal Toyota patterns for hybrids and petrol engines. Keep to the recommended oil grades and check fluids regularly. The hybrid system needs no special short-interval attention beyond standard dealer checks.
