Servicing is simplified compared with combustion cars. Toyota provides no-cost normal factory scheduled maintenance for three years or 35,000 miles and roadside assistance for three years unlimited miles. Key fuel-cell components carry an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty and the hybrid battery ten years/150,000 miles. Exclusive fuel-cell stack coolant is required. otherwise the car is largely free of traditional fluid changes.
Crash protection earned a full five stars from Euro NCAP in 2021. The body structure shields occupants, the fuel-cell stack and the hydrogen tanks. Standard equipment includes the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite (pre-collision with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, dynamic radar cruise and road-sign assist), plus vehicle stability control, ABS, brake assist, multiple airbags and blind-spot/rear-cross-traffic systems. Hydrogen sensors automatically close tank valves if a leak or collision is detected.
Daily living is quiet thanks to the electric drive, extensive sound damping and acoustic glass. The rear-wheel-drive GA-L platform delivers balanced handling and a composed ride. Higher grades add convenience such as Advanced Park, panoramic view monitor and power rear sunshades. Ownership includes connected services trials and, in some markets, complimentary hydrogen fuel allowances.
