Kodiaq 2021–2023 car dimensions: 4697 mm long, 1882 mm wide and 1681 mm high. Braked towing is 2,500 kg.
Active comes with a basic 6.5-inch Swing touchscreen and manual air conditioning. Ambition upgrades to dual-zone Climatronic, rear parking sensors, cruise control and an 8-inch Bolero screen with SmartLink for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Style adds front parking sensors, a reversing camera, Lane Assist and often adaptive cruise. Front Assist automatic emergency braking is standard across the range. Blind-spot warning is available on higher grades or packs.
Five-seat models offer 835 litres with seats up, expanding to 2065 litres when folded. Seven-seat versions start lower with the third row in place.
Braked towing reaches up to 2500 kg on stronger engines and 4x4 versions, with 750 kg unbraked across the board. Payload sits in the 500-700 kg range depending on engine and seating. Trailer Assist is available to help with manoeuvring.
The cabin feels spacious and practical with solid build quality and thoughtful storage. Higher grades add leather or fabric mixes, ambient lighting in multiple colours, and optional ergonomic front seats that heat, ventilate and massage. Dual-zone climate is common from Ambition up, with tri-zone available higher. A panoramic roof opens the space further when fitted, and acoustic glass in the front doors cuts noise on longer trips.
WLTP combined fuel use from about 5.7–7.1 l/100 km petrol and 4.8–5.8 l/100 km diesel depending on engine and drive.
Service interval variable by driving style, typically first at 30 000 km or 2 years then similar.
Euro NCAP 5 stars (2017 test).
Standard safety includes multiple airbags, ESC, ABS, Front Assist with city emergency brake and pedestrian detection, tyre pressure monitoring.
Fuel economy varies with the 1.5 TSI, 2.0 TSI and 2.0 TDI engines offered. Combined figures sit in the mid-5 to low-7 l/100 km range for petrol and high-4 to mid-5 for diesel under WLTP. Real-world use with a full load or trailer will raise those numbers.
Servicing follows a flexible LongLife schedule or fixed intervals. The car signals when oil and filter work is due, often between 15 000 and 30 000 km or up to two years. Brake fluid needs changing every two years after the first three-year interval. DSG and Haldex fluids on relevant models have their own longer intervals.
The 2017 Euro NCAP test gave five stars overall with strong adult occupant scores. Standard kit covers driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags plus a driver’s knee airbag. Front Assist with pedestrian detection, multi-collision brake and electronic stability systems come as standard across the range in Europe. Lane assist and other aids appear from Ambition or as options.
Keeping the car is straightforward with good parts availability and dealer networks. Regular oil changes and attention to the DSG service keep long-term costs down. The body carries a long anti-corrosion warranty and the overall package suits family use with minimal fuss.
