Renault Megane 2017–2020 car dimensions: 4372 mm long, 1874 mm wide and 1445 mm high. Unladen weight is 1,407 kg. Boot space with the seats up is 384 litres.
The cabin has dual-zone climate control and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Cruise control and rear parking sensors come standard. Sports seats offer strong support. Automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, lane departure warning and a reversing camera are available depending on grade or options. The setup suits daily driving with good front space, though rear headroom is limited.
Boot space measures 384 litres with seats up and expands to 1247 litres with the split-folding rear bench down. The load area is usefully shaped but features a high lip that can make heavy items awkward to lift in.
The Megane RS is not engineered for towing, with both braked and unbraked capacities listed at zero. Payload sits near 500 kg. It is a performance-focused hatch with a five-door body and folding seats for basic versatility, but the optional Cup chassis stiffens the suspension for track use rather than heavy loads or work duties.
The cabin has high-backed sports seats with integrated headrests and red stitching on dark fabric as standard. Dual-zone automatic climate control is fitted. The flat-bottom Nappa leather steering wheel adjusts for height and reach. Ambient lighting appears in the doors. Optional Alcantara trim brings heated front seats and a more premium feel. The five-door layout gives decent rear space and a 60:40 split rear bench.
1.8 turbo petrol with official combined economy around 35-41 mpg depending on gearbox.
Service every 12 months or 18,000 miles.
Five-star Euro NCAP rating from the 2015 Megane test.
Standard kit: six airbags, ABS, ESC, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring.
The 1.8-litre turbo petrol returns official combined figures of roughly 35 to 41 mpg. Manual and EDC versions differ slightly, with the dual-clutch often a little more efficient on paper. The fuel tank holds 50 litres.
Official servicing falls every 12 months or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first. Oil and filter changes follow that schedule. Brake fluid needs changing every two years. Coolant is due every four years. The timing chain is lifetime and needs no regular replacement.
The car takes the five-star Euro NCAP result from the standard 2015 Mégane hatch. Standard safety includes dual front airbags, side airbags, full-length curtains, ABS with brake assist, electronic stability control and hill-start assist. Advanced features such as autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control sit in optional packs in many markets.
As a five-door hot hatch it stays usable day to day with a decent boot and split-folding rear seats. Hydraulic bump stops ease the ride over bumps. Early cars had recalls for oil-pressure wiring and fuel-pump issues, so check those have been done.
