Soft-touch surfaces and a clear Z.E. instrument cluster complete a functional, calm interior.

The Fluence Z.E. runs purely on electricity from its 22 kWh battery pack. Official combined range is 185 km under the NEDC cycle. Real-world figures settle nearer 140 km in mixed use and drop further with heavy climate use or cold weather. Standard charging from a wallbox or public station needs six to eight hours for a full top-up. There is no tailpipe CO2.
Servicing is simpler than a combustion Fluence because there is no oil, filters or exhaust system to change. The recommended interval is 30 000 km or once a year. Brake fluid and cabin filter still need periodic attention, and the 12 V battery is checked like any other car. Renault dealers handle the electric systems with dedicated tools.
Crash protection earned four Euro NCAP stars in 2011. Adult occupant scored 72 %, child 83 %, pedestrian protection only 37 % and safety assist 84 %. Standard equipment includes six airbags (front, side and curtain), ESP with traction control, ABS plus emergency brake assist, seat-belt pretensioners and load limiters at the front, and ISOFIX anchors on the outer rear seats. The battery sits in a reinforced rear zone and showed no electrical hazard after the tests.
Day-to-day ownership is low-cost on energy and tax. Battery lease covers replacement if capacity falls below 75 %. Preconditioning the cabin while plugged in preserves range. The fixed rear bench and reduced boot (around 300-317 litres) limit load flexibility, but the quiet ride and long service gaps make it easy to live with for short-to-medium trips.
