Peugeot 308 2007–2013 dimensions, tows 1,700 kg

Braked towing is 1,700 kg.

Peugeot 308 2007–2013 car dimensions: 4276 mm long, 1815 mm wide and 1498 mm high. Braked towing is 1,700 kg.

Cabin has manual air conditioning on lower grades and dual-zone climate control on higher ones. Cruise control with speed limiter is fitted from mid trims up. Rear parking sensors appear on top grades or as options, with front sensors available too. A multifunction screen or colour display is present depending on grade, and the RT4 system adds navigation on some. Lane departure warning (AFIL) is offered as an option on select models. No factory reversing camera, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, automatic emergency braking or blind spot warning.

Boot holds 347 litres with seats up and expands to 1398 litres with them folded. High sill makes loading less easy, but there is underfloor space and a through-load option via the rear armrest.

Braked towing capacity reaches 1700 kg on stronger engines such as the 2.0 HDi or 1.6 THP, with unbraked figures around 660-750 kg depending on version. Payload is typically 450-650 kg across the range.

The cabin feels bright and roomy thanks to large glazed areas and an optional panoramic glass roof that lets in plenty of light, with an electric blind to control it. Front seats offer good support and height adjustment, with lumbar support, heating and electric multi-way adjustment available on higher grades. Dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents and a cabin fragrance diffuser appear on better-equipped versions. Storage is practical, including a cooled glovebox and front armrest.

Euro NCAP five-star overall rating

Standard driver and passenger front airbags, front side airbags and curtain airbags

ABS with EBD and emergency brake assist standard

ESP available and fitted on many higher grades

Efficient petrol and diesel engines with strong official economy on diesels

Fuel economy varies by engine but diesels deliver the strongest figures in mixed use, with later e-HDi stop-start versions among the most frugal. Petrol options include efficient VTi and punchy THP units that balance performance and consumption well for the class.

Servicing follows manufacturer schedules that stretch to longer intervals on many engines, helping keep running costs manageable. Regular oil and filter changes keep the Prince and HDi engines reliable over time.

Safety is a strong point with a five-star Euro NCAP result. The structure uses multiple impact-absorption zones, while the standard kit of adaptive front airbags, side and curtain airbags, pretensioning seatbelts and ABS/EBD/EBA protects occupants. A knee airbag and ESP feature on higher or later cars, with Isofix points for child seats.

The car is straightforward to live with day to day. Solid build and a focus on passive safety mean it holds up well if maintained properly, with good availability of parts for this generation.
