Nissan X-Trail 2021– car dimensions: 4680 mm long, 1840 mm wide and 1725 mm high. Unladen weight is 1,676 kg. Braked towing is 2,000 kg.

The cabin offers an 8-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless on higher grades. Dual-zone climate control is on mid grades, tri-zone on top. Intelligent cruise control is standard. Rear parking sensors and reversing camera come standard, front sensors on higher trims. Standard driver aids include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind spot warning with intervention, and lane keep assist via intelligent lane intervention. Higher grades add around view monitor and ProPILOT.

Five-seat models provide 585 litres of boot space with seats up, expanding to 1424 litres with seats folded. Seven-seat versions offer 465 litres behind the second row with the third folded. A flat floor and cargo hooks aid loading.

Petrol models tow up to 2000 kg braked and 750 kg unbraked. e-POWER versions are limited to 1650 kg braked. Payload sits around 500 kg depending on configuration and drivetrain. The independent multi-link rear suspension supports everyday loads without special heavy-duty options noted.

The cabin is spacious with good headroom and flexible seating for five or seven. Higher grades add multi-way power front seats with lumbar, heated front and rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, dual- or tri-zone climate control with rear vents, and a tilt-and-slide panoramic roof. Privacy glass and acoustic elements on some trims help keep the interior quiet on the move. Floating console and butterfly armrest add practical storage.

Euro NCAP 5 stars (2021): 91% adult, 90% child, 70% vulnerable road user, 95% safety assist.

Standard kit includes multiple airbags (front, side, curtain, centre), AEB with pedestrian/cyclist/junction, lane keep, blind-spot and cross-traffic alerts, driver attention alert.

Service intervals typically annual or 10,000–15,000 km depending on market and oil-life system.

Powertrains include petrol, diesel and e-POWER hybrid options with claimed combined figures in the mid-40s mpg range for hybrids.

Fuel use varies by engine. Petrol models return combined figures around 7–8 L/100 km in published data. e-POWER hybrids claim higher efficiency, up to the high-40s mpg on the combined cycle in some markets, with lower CO2. Real-world results depend on load, driving style and whether 4WD is fitted.

Servicing follows an oil-life monitor or fixed schedule. Intervals are commonly every 12 months or 10,000–15,000 km, whichever comes first. Brake fluid is typically changed every two years. Capped-price service programmes exist in some markets for the first several visits.

Safety is a strong point. The generation scored five Euro NCAP stars with high adult and child protection and near-maximum safety-assist marks. Standard equipment covers the full Nissan Safety Shield suite: autonomous emergency braking, lane support, blind-spot intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic-sign recognition and driver-attention monitoring. ISOFIX points and a full set of airbags are fitted across the range.

Day-to-day ownership is straightforward. The cabin stays practical with sliding and folding rear seats, wide-opening doors and a power tailgate on higher grades. Regular servicing and attention to the hybrid battery or CVT fluid keep running costs predictable. No exotic maintenance items appear in the published schedules.
