The Visia cabin has a simple cloth trim with manual air conditioning, pollen filter and glovebox cooler. It includes a Bluetooth-compatible CD audio system with four speakers, trip computer, height-adjustable driver's seat, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, front centre armrest, four electric windows and electrically adjustable heated door mirrors. Six airbags and active front headrests are standard. ESP is optional on the 1.6. Higher grades add dual-zone climate control, cruise control and rear parking sensors.
Boot space is 410 litres with the seats up. The 60:40 split rear bench folds to give 860 litres.
The 1.6 Visia has a maximum braked towing weight of 1200 kg and unbraked of 685 kg. Maximum payload is 415 kg. Roof load is limited to 75 kg.

The 1.6-litre petrol engine delivers a combined figure of 42.2 mpg and produces 162 g/km of CO2. Urban running sits at 33.6 mpg while extra-urban reaches 49.6 mpg.
Major servicing is scheduled every 30,000 km or two years, whichever comes first. The engine uses a timing chain so no cambelt replacement is required.
Euro NCAP awarded the Qashqai five stars for adult protection with a near-perfect score, four stars for child protection and two for pedestrians. Every model carries six airbags, active front headrests, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, plus Isofix mounts.
ESP is optional on the 1.6 Visia. Remote central locking, an immobiliser and speed-sensitive auto door locking are fitted as standard, making day-to-day ownership straightforward.
