Servicing follows clear intervals: petrol models every year or 12,500 miles, diesels every year or 18,000 miles. Minor and major services alternate. No cambelt on the chain-driven engines, but coolant renews every five years or 60,000 miles and brake fluid every two years. Fixed-price dealer packages keep costs predictable.
Safety is a strong point. The car scored five Euro NCAP stars in 2014 with 84 percent adult and 81 percent child protection. Six airbags, stability control and a speed limiter come standard. Higher grades add Forward Emergency Braking, then Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning and the 360-degree Around View Monitor on Tekna.
Living with the Pulsar is straightforward. The roomy cabin and 385-litre boot (1,395 litres seats down) suit families. Keep service history complete, watch for early 1.2 DIG-T oil use and confirm any recalls on headlamp levelling or sensors are done. Parts are shared with the Qashqai so availability is good.
