The cabin has a 12.8-inch AMOLED centre touchscreen plus 10.2-inch digital cluster as standard, with later updates to a larger horizontal screen. Two-zone automatic climate control with heat pump is standard. Adaptive cruise, AEB, blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist and emergency lane keep come standard via the Aquila sensor suite with LiDAR, cameras and radars. Front and rear parking sensors plus 360-degree camera with reverse view are standard. Phone links use Bluetooth and native apps only.
Boot holds 386 litres with seats up, expanding to 1135 litres with the 60:40 split rear seats folded. Underfloor storage adds a little more. No frunk.
Braked towing is 1400 kg and unbraked 750 kg. An electrically deployable tow bar with trailer mode is available as an optional package. Payload sits around 550 kg depending on battery.
The cabin feels bright and airy from the large fixed panoramic glass roof that lets in UV-filtered light. Soft Haptex perforated seats and Clean+ sustainable fabrics from recycled materials create a premium touch. Front sport seats offer multi-way power adjustment with heating as standard and air cushion support for longer drives. ventilation and massage come in packages. The ET5 runs fully electric on 75 kWh or 100 kWh batteries. WLTP range reaches around 455 km on the smaller pack and up to 590 km on the larger one depending on conditions. Energy use sits near 18-20 kWh per 100 km. AC charging tops at 11 kW while DC fast charging hits 140 kW or more. Battery swap stations are available in supported markets for quick exchanges with health checks.
Service happens at NIO centers. Brake fluid needs changing every three years. Coolant gets checked by the fifth year or 100,000 km and replaced if required, then every two years or 40,000 km. Gearbox oil lasts to 200,000 km. Brake pads and discs, cabin filter and 12 V battery follow wear or display prompts. Early services are often covered. OTA updates handle software.
Safety scores a full five stars in Euro NCAP tests under the 2023 protocol. The body uses ultra-high-strength steel and aluminum with high torsional stiffness. Seven airbags protect occupants including a center bag between front seats. Active systems cover automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure and change alerts, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and fatigue monitoring via a full sensor set of LiDAR, cameras and radars.
Ownership includes battery capacity guarantees under warranty. High-strength structure and crumple zones protect the cabin and pack. Sustainable cabin materials reduce impact. Battery as a Service and swaps help maintain health over time. Regular NIO center visits and OTA keep systems ready.
