The cabin seats six in three rows with multi-way power adjustable lounge seats that heat, ventilate and massage in the first two rows. A 12.8-inch AMOLED centre touchscreen runs the native system with a large HUD and digital cluster. Five-zone climate control is standard. Driver aids include adaptive cruise, pilot assist for lane centring, AEB, blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist, emergency lane keep, surround-view cameras and advanced parking assist with ultrasonic sensors. NOMI voice control works from all rows.
Boot space is 265 litres behind the third row, enough for a couple of large suitcases, with underfloor storage. Fold the third-row seats electrically and capacity rises to 810 litres. The air suspension can lower the rear for easier loading. Second-row seats do not fold flat for a full load floor.
Braked towing capacity is 2000 kg with an optional electrically deployable tow bar and dedicated trailer mode that retunes the dual-chamber air suspension and drivetrain. Unbraked is 750 kg. Payload sits around 630 kg on a 3190 kg GVW. Roof load is 75 kg. Camping and pet modes support leisure use, but the six-seat layout limits pure work cargo versatility.
The cabin offers a quiet lounge-like space with multi-way power seats including 20-way driver seats with shoulder bolsters and 22-way passenger lounge seats that recline to zero-gravity with leg and foot rests. First and second row seats have independent heating on cushion, back and legs plus ventilation. Air cushions support the back on long trips, with hot stone massage on some grades. A large panoramic roof lets in light, laminated acoustic glass cuts noise, and a smart fragrance system adds scent options alongside five-zone climate control.

The EL8 runs fully electric with dual motors producing strong acceleration and a choice of battery packs for different ranges under WLTP testing. Energy use sits in the low-20 kWh per 100 km range depending on version and conditions. Battery swap is available at NIO stations for quick top-ups without waiting to charge.
Servicing happens at NIO centers. Component intervals include gearbox oil at 200,000 km, brake fluid every three years, and coolant or brake pad checks starting at five years or 100,000 km. Warranties cover the vehicle for five years or 150,000 km and the battery for eight years or 160,000 km to 70 percent capacity.
Safety centers on a mostly aluminum body with high torsional stiffness, crumple zones covering much of the width, and a smart system that adjusts airbag and belt response by seat position. Seven airbags protect all rows. Standard kit includes AEB, lane keep, blind spot, cross traffic alerts, adaptive cruise, pilot assist and parking aids via the Aquila sensor set of lidar, cameras and radars. No Euro NCAP score is published yet for this generation though the design targets five stars and related models score highly.
