The cabin centres on a 12.8-inch AMOLED touchscreen and 10.2-inch driver display running NIO's Banyan system, with no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Three-zone automatic climate control is standard, along with a panoramic glass roof. Driver aids include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist with emergency lane keeping, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and 360-degree camera as standard, backed by LiDAR and multiple radars and cameras.
Boot space measures 579 litres with seats up, expanding to 1430 litres with the 40/20/40 rear seats folded. Underfloor storage brings the seats-up figure to 668 litres. There is no frunk.
Braked towing capacity is 1200 kg with an optional electrically deployable tow bar that includes trailer mode. unbraked is 750 kg. Payload is listed at 540 kg for the standard-range battery version. Smart air suspension is standard.
The cabin feels open yet cocooning like a second living room, flooded with light from the large openable panoramic glass roof. The EL6 runs solely on electricity from either a 75 kWh or 100 kWh pack. A heat pump is standard to help efficiency in cold weather. AC charging is 11 kW. DC fast charging reaches 140-180 kW depending on pack, taking roughly half an hour from 10 to 80 %. Battery swap stations are part of the NIO network where available, letting you exchange for a full pack in minutes.
Routine service is done at NIO Service Centers. The manual lists brake-fluid changes every three years and gearbox-oil replacement every 200 000 km under normal conditions. Other checks follow the on-board health monitor and scheduled visits. there are no traditional engine-oil intervals.
Crash protection earned a full five-star Euro NCAP rating in 2024. Adult-occupant score is 93 %, child 85 %, vulnerable road users 78 % and safety assist 76 %. The body uses a high-strength steel-aluminium hybrid structure. Standard equipment covers long-range LiDAR, multiple cameras and radars, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping and departure aids, blind-spot and cross-traffic alerts, driver monitoring, a centre airbag and multi-collision braking.
Battery care is straightforward: keep charge above 50 % if the car sits unused, avoid frequent maximum DC sessions when possible, and park in moderate temperatures. The high-voltage pack carries an extended warranty separate from the five-year/150 000 km vehicle cover. Soft-close doors, power tailgate and comprehensive ADAS reduce daily wear and tear.
