Diesel engines deliver solid efficiency for a large van, with WLTP combined figures from 6.9 l/100 km on lighter setups up to around 8.7 l/100 km. A mild-hybrid petrol option is also offered. Real-world use typically sits higher in mixed driving but the 9G-TRONIC gearbox and size still allow long ranges from the tank.
Servicing uses the Assyst Plus system that adapts to driving style. Maximum intervals reach 40,000 km or 24 months with long-life oil. Oil services and full inspections alternate. costs depend on the work needed but stay in line with premium vans.
Safety equipment is strong as standard: Active Brake Assist now covers cross traffic, plus DISTRONIC adaptive cruise, lane keeping, blind-spot monitoring, Attention Assist and a full airbag set including a centre airbag. The 2014 Euro NCAP test gave five stars with high adult and child scores. Parking aids and optional 360-degree camera further reduce risk.
The V-Class is built for high mileage and everyday family or business use. Keep up with Assyst services and AdBlue top-ups on diesels to maintain reliability. Residuals hold well for a premium MPV and the flexible interior helps it stay practical over years of ownership.
