The cabin features standard THERMATIC two-zone automatic climate control and TEMPOMAT cruise control with SPEEDTRONIC limiter. Audio 20 provides a central 5-inch colour display with Bluetooth and CD player as standard. optional COMAND APS upgrades to a 7 or 7.5-inch colour monitor with navigation. PARKTRONIC parking sensors and reversing camera are available as options, often in packages. PRE-SAFE is optional. No Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning or lane keep assist appear in period equipment lists.
Boot volume measures 450 litres with seats up and expands to 1550 litres with the rear seats folded. The 60/40 split rear backrest creates a flat load floor. Standard features include lashing eyes, bag hooks, a 12-volt socket and side load-compartment lighting. An electric EASY-PACK tailgate is optional.
Braked towing capacity is 2000 kg and unbraked 750 kg. Payload ranges from about 540 to 650 kg depending on equipment. A trailer coupling is optional.
The Off-Road Engineering package adds DSR downhill speed regulation and a special off-road drive program. The Exterior Sports package includes a 20 mm lowered sports suspension. Standard AGILITY CONTROL suspension with selective damping suits mixed road and light off-road use.
The cabin gives an elevated seating position with strong all-round visibility and generous leg and head room for five. Front seats have standard electric height and backrest adjustment plus mechanical lumbar on the driver side. full multi-way power with memory is optional. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard. An optional panoramic sliding sunroof floods the interior with light. Materials and finish create a solid, brand-typical feel suited to daily use and longer trips.

The 3.5-litre V6 returns combined consumption of 10.5 to 10.8 litres per 100 km on premium unleaded according to the applicable cycle, with urban figures around 14.2-14.6 litres and extra-urban 8.3-8.5 litres. CO2 output sits in the 245-251 g/km range depending on exact specification and tyres. A 66-litre tank supports reasonable range for an SUV of this size and power.
Service is handled via the ASSYST PLUS system that monitors condition and displays remaining distance or time to the next visit. Brake fluid is renewed every two years. No fixed kilometre interval is published beyond the onboard computer guidance.
Passive safety rests on a rigid passenger cell with high-strength steels plus extensive airbags and crash-active head restraints as standard. Active systems include ESP with 4ETS traction control, ABS and brake assist. The car scored five stars in the 2010 Euro NCAP test. Optional PRE-SAFE adds reversible belt tensioning and window/sunroof closure when a collision is imminent.
Keeping the car means following the ASSYST prompts, using the correct premium fuel and Mercedes-approved oils, and checking tyre pressures regularly. The 4MATIC system and multilink suspension need no special extra care beyond normal inspections.
