The G 500 runs on premium petrol. Official figures show combined consumption of 11.0-12.4 litres per 100 km under WLTP and 18 mpg combined under EPA testing. The 100-litre tank supports long trips between fills.
Service follows the ASSYST PLUS display. The A service covers oil and filter change plus inspections every 10,000 miles or 12 months. Later services add air filter, brake fluid, transmission fluid and other items at higher mileages. Some markets include multi-year service plans.
Safety equipment is extensive as standard. It includes PRE-SAFE preventive protection, knee airbag, front and rear side airbags, Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, blind-spot monitoring with exit warning, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise and a full 360-degree camera system with parking assist. Three locking differentials and low-range gearing aid control off-road. The previous generation scored five stars in Euro NCAP testing.
Keeping the car means watching the service indicator and using genuine parts for the differentials and transfer case. The mild-hybrid system needs no special charging. Extra sound insulation and laminated glass help keep the cabin quiet on long highway runs.
