The cabin features a free-standing colour display as standard, controlled via a rotary controller, with larger touchscreen versions available later in the generation. Climate control is standard, with dual-zone Thermotronic as an option. Collision Prevention Assist provides radar-based warnings and brake support as standard, upgraded to Plus with autonomous braking from 2015. Cruise control, PARKTRONIC sensors, Active Parking Assist, reversing camera, Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist are available depending on trim and market.
Boot space measures 470 litres with the rear seats in place. The rear seats fold split to expand capacity for longer items, though the opening is narrow with a high lip due to the coupe styling.
The CLA 180 can tow up to 1200 kg braked or 695 kg unbraked. Payload is 525 kg. Sports suspension is available on certain lines for firmer handling but is not reinforced for heavy loads.
The cabin has standard integral sports seats with good lateral support for all five seats. Jet-engine style air vents and a twin-tube instrument cluster with red highlights set a sporty tone. A free-standing TFT display stands out. The Exclusive package adds heated front sports seats with 4-way lumbar support. An optional panoramic sliding sunroof brightens the interior and can be operated remotely with the key.

The CLA 180 petrol engine returns combined fuel consumption of 5.4 to 5.6 litres per 100 km. A BlueEFFICIENCY Edition version lowers this further to 5.0 litres per 100 km. ECO start/stop is standard and an ECO display helps the driver stay efficient.
Service is due every 25 000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first. The plan alternates Service A and Service B with oil and filter changes plus checks on brakes, tyres and fluids.
The CLA scored five stars in Euro NCAP tests. Standard kit includes Collision Prevention Assist with Adaptive Brake Assist, Attention Assist, Adaptive Brake with Hold function, ESP, ABS and a full set of airbags for driver, passenger, sides, knees and both rows of windows. Optional packages add lane keeping, blind spot assist and PRE-SAFE.
Keep the car by following the ASSYST service display and using approved oils. Regular tyre and brake checks maintain the low-drag design that aids both economy and stability.
