Mercedes-AMG G 63 2024– car dimensions: 4873 mm long, 1984 mm wide and 1976 mm high. Unladen weight is 2,640 kg. Braked towing is 3,500 kg.
The cabin has dual 12.3-inch screens under glass with MBUX, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and navigation. Tri-zone THERMOTRONIC climate control is standard. Nappa leather seats with heating come fitted, and ventilation is common. Adaptive cruise with DISTRONIC, Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, PARKTRONIC sensors and a surround-view camera system with reverse view are standard. The upright seating and high sills give a commanding view but a snug feel up front.
Boot space is 640 litres behind the rear seats and expands to 2010 litres with them folded. The side-hinged rear door with spare tyre needs clear space to open, and the load floor sits high.
Braked towing capacity is 3500 kg and unbraked is 750 kg. Payload sits at 560 kg. The ladder-frame chassis, low-range transfer case and lockable differentials suit off-road or light trailer work, with trailer stability assist available.
The cabin uses Nappa leather on seats and dash with open-pore wood or metal trim options and ambient lighting. Upright seating position offers high-back chairs with pillow-style headrests that support the head well. Front seats are power-adjustable with memory as standard. multicontour versions with massage and bolster adjustment come in packages along with ENERGIZING programs. A glass sliding sunroof is fitted, three-zone climate control works with heated and cooled cupholders, and ionisation plus fine-particle filtration freshens the air. Rear seats heat and in some specs ventilate. The space feels solid and exclusive with microsuede headliner options, though rear legroom is tighter than the numbers suggest and the side-hinged rear door needs muscle to open.
EPA fuel economy 14 city / 16 highway / 15 combined mpg. premium unleaded required. 100 L / 26.4 gal tank
4-year / 50,000-mile basic and powertrain warranty. no complimentary scheduled maintenance. prepaid plans available
Euro NCAP 5 stars (2019 generation rating, adult 90 %, child 83 %, pedestrian 78 %, assist 72 %). ANCAP 5 stars. no NHTSA or IIHS rating
Standard kit includes PRE-SAFE, multiple airbags (front, side, curtain, knee, rear side), AEB with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise, traffic-sign recognition, rear cross-traffic alert, tyre-pressure monitoring
The 4.0-litre biturbo V8 with mild-hybrid assist returns 14/16/15 mpg on the EPA cycle and real-world figures around that level or lower when driven hard. Premium fuel is required and the 100-litre tank supports reasonable range despite the thirst of the boxy, heavy body.
Warranty cover is four years or 50 000 miles for vehicle and powertrain. Scheduled maintenance is not free. owners buy prepaid packages or pay as services fall due under the ASSYST indicator. Service intervals follow the car’s condition-based schedule rather than fixed mileage alone.
The generation carries a five-star Euro NCAP result from 2019 that still applies, with strong adult and child scores and good vulnerable-road-user protection. US crash agencies have not rated it. Standard equipment already packs PRE-SAFE, a full airbag suite including knee and rear-side bags, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot and lane-keeping systems, adaptive cruise and 360-degree cameras.
Living with the G 63 means accepting high fuel use, a heavy curb weight near 2 640 kg and a side-hinged rear door that is awkward for loading. The ladder-frame chassis and three locking differentials keep it capable off-road, while adaptive damping and the optional active multicontour seats make long highway runs comfortable. Routine care is dealer-based and parts are premium-priced.
