Mahindra Thar OG 2026 car dimensions: 3995 mm long, 1870 mm wide and 1855 mm high. Boot space with the seats up is 257 litres.
The cabin keeps a driver-focused upright layout with rear AC vents and height-adjustable driver seat across the range. Mid and top grades add a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and wired Apple CarPlay plus cruise control. Top grade brings a rear-view camera, front parking sensors, wireless charger and six airbags including HPTS units for both rows. No ADAS features such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning or lane keep are offered. Enhanced NVH damping and soft rear armrests with cupholders improve everyday comfort.
Boot space with seats up is limited to soft bags or backpacks behind the split tailgate. Rear seats fold 50:50 flat to free more room for larger items or adventure gear, though the high lip makes loading heavy loads harder.
Welded front and rear tow hooks plus tow hitch protection come as standard. The new M_Glyde 4G platform with Pentalink rear suspension and Watts link plus DAVINCI dampers (FDD on top grade) give better on-road stability and off-road control for work or adventure use.
The cabin feels more inviting with truffle brown leatherette seats on the top trim and improved NVH levels. Front seats offer height adjustment for the driver plus body-hugging contours. Rear seats gain soft armrests with cupholders and dedicated AC vents for better usability on longer drives. New suspension and dampers tame much of the short-wheelbase bounce for a more composed everyday ride, though rear entry still needs some effort.

The Thar OG runs a choice of three engines: a 1.5-litre diesel, a more powerful 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol. Outputs reach 162 PS and 330 Nm on the larger units. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are offered, with rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive layouts depending on the engine chosen.
Safety equipment starts with dual airbags, ESP with rollover mitigation, ABS, hill-hold, hill-descent control, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX mounts and a roll cage on every variant. The top ZXT adds four HPTS airbags for a total of six, all-wheel disc brakes, tyre-pressure monitoring, a rear-view camera and front parking sensors.
The new platform, Pentalink rear suspension and DAVINCI dampers improve on-road composure and reduce the old Thar’s jiggle, making daily use and longer trips less tiring while keeping full off-road ability with electronic locking differential and terrain modes on higher grades. Lower cabin noise further helps everyday livability.
