Runs on AI-91 to AI-93 petrol with 39-litre tank.

Fuel use 7.4 l/100 km at 90 km/h, 10.1 l/100 km at 120 km/h, around 10 l/100 km city.

Engine oil change every 10 000 km or yearly. volume 3.75 litres.

Standard kit includes seat belts, trauma-safe steering wheel and front headrests. later cars gained inertial belts.

Front disc and rear drum brakes.

ARCAP crash rating zero stars out of four.

The 1.6-litre carburettor engine needs regular AI-92 petrol and returns roughly 7.4 litres per 100 km on the highway at steady 90 km/h or about 10 litres in town. Tank capacity is 39 litres so range is modest on mixed routes.

Servicing is straightforward. Change engine oil and filter every 10 000 km or once a year. Valve clearances need checking every 20 000 km. Coolant and other fluids last about 40 000 km. Chain-driven timing lasts longer but still needs attention around 100 000 km. Parts are cheap and widely available.

Safety kit is basic: front seat belts (inertial from the late 1990s), padded steering wheel and headrests. No airbags or modern crumple zones. A 2002 ARCAP test scored zero stars. Brakes are discs at the front and drums at the rear. Side-impact beams appeared only on some export cars.

The car is simple to keep on the road. High ground clearance and soft suspension suit poor surfaces. Body rust is the main long-term enemy so regular underbody checks and paint care matter. Mechanical reliability is good when oil and filters are changed on time.
