Hummer H2 2002–2009 car dimensions: 5169 mm long, 2062 mm wide and 2012 mm high. Unladen weight is 3,000 kg. Braked towing is 3,636 kg.
Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard, with rear auxiliary heating and cooling controls. Cruise control is standard on the steering wheel. A rear vision camera became available as an option from 2007 and was included in luxury packages. Touchscreen navigation radios were offered as options on higher trims. No automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning or lane keep systems appear in the equipment lists.
Cargo volume measures 1132 litres behind the second-row seats and expands to 2452 litres with the seats folded flat.
Maximum braked towing capacity reaches 3636 kg on later models with the 6.2-litre engine and six-speed transmission. earlier versions were rated lower around 3000 kg. Payload is listed at 998 kg. An engine oil cooler and enlarged cooling system support heavy loads.
Optional self-leveling rear air suspension with onboard compressor improves stability when towing or carrying cargo. Full underbody and rocker panel protection suit off-road and work duties. A class III hitch receiver is standard.
The cabin is roomy with long wide thick cushions and high seatbacks that fit a wide range of adult sizes. Front seats offer 8-way power adjustment plus four-way power lumbar and torso bolster controls with memory for two drivers. Leather surfaces bring independently heated front backs and cushions plus heated rear cushions. Dual-zone automatic climate control with rear auxiliary heating and cooling keeps temperatures steady. A power tilt-slide sunroof with express open and close is available or standard depending on body style and year. Bose audio, triple-sealed doors and enhanced insulation round out a refined yet tough interior suited to long trips or off-road use.
32-gallon fuel tank. FlexFuel E85 capability on 2009 models.
Oil changes follow the GM Oil Life System or at least once a year.
NHTSA and IIHS crash tests not conducted. no star ratings published.
Standard dual front airbags, four-wheel ABS disc brakes, traction control and later StabiliTrak with head-curtain side airbags and rollover sensing.
Tire pressure monitoring, LATCH anchors, pretensioners and OnStar available or standard.
Fuel use is high. The heavy vehicle sits outside normal EPA reporting for most years, and real-world figures sit in the low teens or below. A large tank helps range. Later models accept E85.
Servicing centres on the oil-life monitor. Change oil and filter when the light appears or yearly, whichever comes first, then reset the system. Alternate Maintenance I and II services cover chassis lubrication, filters, brakes, fluids and inspections. Severe or dusty use shortens intervals.
Safety equipment builds over the run. Early cars have dual front airbags, ABS and traction control. Later years add StabiliTrak electronic stability control, head-curtain side airbags with rollover sensing, panic brake assist and tire-pressure monitoring. Child locks, LATCH and pretensioners are present. No official crash-test scores exist.
Living with the H2 means planning for heavy weight, large tires and full-time four-wheel drive. Underbody protection and skid plates are standard. Keep differentials, transfer case and air suspension (if fitted) serviced, especially after off-road use. Parts and specialist knowledge remain available through GM channels.
