Ford Focus 2001–2005 car dimensions: 4454 mm long, 1702 mm wide and 1447 mm high. Unladen weight is 1,150 kg. Braked towing is 1,200 kg.

The 2001-2005 Ford Focus CL estate features a basic cabin with cloth seats, manual windows and mirrors on entry grades, and a standard radio cassette or CD player depending on year. Air conditioning is optional or standard on higher CL packs in some markets. Cruise control appears only on upper trims like Ghia. No advanced driver aids such as AEB, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist or reversing camera were offered. Parking sensors were a dealer option on select grades. The layout is simple and functional with good ergonomics for its era.

Boot space measures 520 litres with seats up and expands to 1580 litres when the rear seats are folded flat. The load floor is low and wide between the arches, with a long load length to the front seats. Roof rails are available for extra capacity.

Braked towing capacity reaches 1200 kg on most petrol and diesel estates, rising to 1300 kg on the 1.8 TDCi 115 PS. Payload is around 430 kg depending on engine. Self-levelling heavy-duty suspension is optional on estates and raises GVM by 50 kg for better load carrying.

The cabin offers good headroom and legroom for five with a design aimed at a wide range of occupant sizes. Cloth seats include height-adjustable head restraints and a 60:40 split rear bench. Control Blade multi-link rear suspension gives a comfortable ride over bumps. Air conditioning is available as an option along with a pollen filter. Basic trim means manual seat adjustments and no luxury extras.

Petrol engines from 1.4 to 2.0 litres and 1.8 diesels are offered. Combined fuel use sits in the mid 6 to 9 l/100 km range depending on the unit chosen. The 55-litre tank supports decent range for daily and longer trips.

Oil and filter changes form the core of each service. Timing belt renewal is due at high mileage around 150,000-160,000 km. Brake fluid needs changing every two years. Body corrosion checks are advised annually.

Crash protection earned four Euro NCAP stars for adults. Dual front airbags are standard. Side airbags and ABS appear on many examples or as options. High-security locks and a fuel cut-off switch add further protection.

The estate body stays practical with roof rails and a large load area. Regular checks for chassis rust keep the car reliable long-term. Parts remain widely available.
