Servicing follows a simple schedule for electric cars, usually once a year or every 9,000 miles. There is no engine oil or complex mechanical work, so costs stay low. Brake wear is reduced thanks to regenerative braking. The high-voltage battery needs no routine maintenance beyond checks and is covered for eight years or 100,000 miles.
Safety kit is comprehensive even on lower trims, with six airbags, autonomous emergency braking that detects pedestrians and cyclists, lane-keeping assist, traffic-sign recognition, driver-attention monitoring and eCall. La Prima adds blind-spot warning, adaptive cruise with stop-and-go and lane centring for Level 2 assist, plus all-round sensors and a 180-degree camera. No Euro NCAP crash rating has been published for the 600e.
Day-to-day ownership is straightforward with keyless entry, a hands-free power tailgate, automatic climate control and connected services for remote preconditioning. The car is light on running costs thanks to zero tailpipe emissions and modest electricity use. An adjustable boot floor and 360-litre load space help with practicality.
