The 3.0 V6 CRD is a Mercedes-sourced common-rail turbodiesel making 218 hp and 510 Nm. Official figures put combined consumption at 8.1 L/100 km and CO2 at 215 g/km under the NEDC cycle used at the time. Real-world figures sit a little higher but the car is still economical for its size and weight on longer runs. A diesel particulate filter is fitted.
German specification sheets list oil and service intervals at 20 000 km or 12 months for the CRD. Some markets quote shorter mile-based bands. Regular oil changes matter on this engine. the automatic gearbox and DPF also need proper care on short-trip cars.
European cars carry a full active and passive kit as standard: electronic stability control, ABS with brake assist, traction control, multi-stage front airbags, seat-mounted side airbags and full-length curtain airbags, tyre-pressure monitoring, xenon lights and rear parking sensors. Self-levelling rear suspension is listed. This generation was not given a published Euro NCAP star rating.
Live-with points centre on keeping the diesel and five-speed automatic serviced on schedule, watching EGR and DPF health on urban cars, and checking suspension bushes and electronics on high-mileage examples. Parts availability is reasonable for a European-built car of this age.
