The Bolt EV runs purely on electricity from its 65 kWh battery pack. Expect about 259 miles of range per full charge under EPA estimates. Level 2 charging at 240 volts takes roughly 7 hours for a full charge. DC fast charging is standard and can add up to 100 miles in 30 minutes.
Servicing is simpler than gas cars with no oil changes or spark plugs needed. Follow tire rotations and multi-point inspections every 7,500 miles. Replace the cabin air filter around 22,500 miles and brake fluid every five years. The first routine maintenance visit is covered.
Safety starts with a full 5-star NHTSA rating across frontal, side, and rollover tests. IIHS rates roof strength and head restraints as Good.
