Boot space is 360 litres with seats up due to the mild-hybrid battery. The 40/20/40 split rear seats fold to expand capacity to around 1065 litres. Access is via a traditional boot lid rather than a hatch, which limits the opening height.
Towing capacity reaches 1300 kg braked and 750 kg unbraked. Payload is rated at 535 kg. Adaptive M suspension is available on the M Sport trim for firmer control but is not a reinforced work setup. The car suits light trailer duties rather than heavy commercial use.
Newly designed front seats deliver strong long-distance support with firm side bolsters and good thigh support. Heated seats come standard. Electric multi-way adjustment with driver memory is available. Sports seats add massage as an option. The cabin feels sporty and digital with the curved display, quality synthetic surfaces and ambient lighting. Rear seats offer decent space for two adults but a firm middle seat and limited headroom under the sloping roof. Panoramic glass roof is optional.

The 220 mild-hybrid petrol returns WLTP combined figures of 5.2 to 5.8 litres per 100 km depending on equipment and wheels. Real-world use stays efficient thanks to the 48-volt system that assists pull-away and smooths the three-cylinder.
BMW offers Service Inclusive packages covering oil changes, filters, brake fluid and inspections for set periods and mileages. Condition-based service indicators tell you when work is due. Repair Inclusive extends cover beyond the standard warranty.
Standard safety kit includes multiple airbags with the new centre airbag, Active Guard collision systems, lane keeping alerts and parking sensors with camera. Optional Driving Assistant Professional adds adaptive cruise and lane centering. No Euro NCAP rating for this generation has been published yet.
Day-to-day ownership stays straightforward with keyless start, electric folding mirrors and the My BMW app for remote checks. Keep the car with original parts and authorised service to maintain residual value.
