The i5 eDrive40 Touring runs fully electric on an 81.2 kWh net battery. WLTP range reaches 483-560 km depending on wheels and options, with higher figures possible in efficient setups. Standard AC charge is 11 kW. 22 kW is optional. DC fast charge peaks at 205 kW and takes about 30 minutes from 10 to 80 percent.
Servicing follows the Condition Based Service system that monitors components and alerts when due. Typical checks cover brakes, cabin filter, coolant and tyres. No engine oil changes are needed. The high-voltage battery is maintenance-free under normal use.
Safety earns a full five-star Euro NCAP rating from the 2023 5 Series/i5 tests, with strong adult, child and vulnerable road user scores. Standard kit includes multiple airbags with a centre airbag, DSC stability control, autonomous emergency braking for cars pedestrians and cyclists, lane keeping and speed assistance.
