Servicing follows BMW’s Condition Based Service system. Sensors track brake pads, fluid, filters and overall condition so the car tells you when work is due. For this electric model there is no engine oil change. Typical checks fall around every 24 months, with brake fluid every two years and battery coolant at longer intervals. Regenerative braking reduces pad wear but discs still need corrosion checks.

Crash tests give the i4 four Euro NCAP stars. Adult and child occupant protection both score 87 percent with a stable structure and good results in frontal and side impacts. Vulnerable road user protection is 71 percent thanks to the active bonnet and AEB. Safety assist scores 64 percent. the car has lane keep, speed limit info and seat-belt reminders but misses a centre airbag and post-crash braking. Standard equipment covers front, side and curtain airbags plus ISOFIX.

Battery warranty covers eight years or 160 000 km with a capacity guarantee. Routine costs stay lower than a combustion equivalent because there is no oil or exhaust service. Keep software updated via remote upgrades and monitor tyre pressures and brake condition for best results.
