BMW 740i 2023– car dimensions: 5391 mm long, 1950 mm wide and 1544 mm high. Unladen weight is 2,090 kg. Braked towing is 2,100 kg.
The cabin centres on a 14.9-inch curved touchscreen paired with a 12.3-inch digital cluster running iDrive 8, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. Four-zone automatic climate control keeps front and rear occupants comfortable, while multi-function seats offer heating, ventilation and massage. Driver aids include adaptive cruise with stop-and-go, front collision warning with automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning with active correction and steering-and-lane control. Front and rear parking sensors plus surround-view cameras with reversing assistant make low-speed manoeuvres straightforward.
Boot space measures 540 litres with the rear seats in place. A 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat and through-loading system allow longer items to pass into the cabin when needed.
Braked towing capacity reaches 2100 kg and unbraked 750 kg, with a maximum payload of 695 kg. Adaptive two-axle air suspension is fitted as standard.
The cabin feels spacious and quiet with soft Merino leather multi-functional seats that heat, ventilate and massage front and rear. Executive Lounge seating includes a power leg rest for deep recline. Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof floods the interior with light by day and LED patterns by night. Acoustic glass keeps road noise low while four-zone climate control keeps every passenger comfortable.
Combined fuel use 7.9 l/100 km
74-litre fuel tank
5-year/200 000 km warranty
3-year/60 000 km free scheduled maintenance
Standard airbags, ABS, DSC, lane-departure warning and automatic emergency braking
The mild-hybrid 3.0-litre straight-six returns a combined 7.9 litres per 100 km on the official cycle and stores 74 litres of fuel. Real-world figures sit higher in city traffic but stay reasonable on open roads.
BMW covers the car with a five-year or 200 000 km warranty in this market and includes three years or 60 000 km of free scheduled servicing. Condition-based oil-service intervals appear on the dash when due.
Safety kit is comprehensive as standard: multiple airbags including a centre airbag, ABS, dynamic stability control, attentiveness assistant, lane-departure warning with active return, forward collision warning with automatic braking and tyre-pressure monitoring. No independent crash-test star rating has been published for this generation.
Keeping the car means watching the complex air suspension and electronics. Soft-close doors, automatic doors and the large glass roof need occasional checks, but the free-maintenance period removes early service costs.
