The cabin has a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen Control Display with Professional navigation and gesture control. Two-zone automatic climate control is standard, with four-zone available as an option. Basic cruise control with brake function comes as standard. Front and rear parking sensors are standard. Automatic emergency braking with city brake function is standard. Blind spot warning and lane departure warning form part of the optional Driving Assistant package at launch, later made standard from mid-2017 along with the reversing camera and parking assistant. Full lane keep assist requires the Driving Assistant Plus package.
Boot space measures 515 litres with the seats up. The rear seats do not fold.

The 730Ld uses a 195 kW/265 hp straight-six diesel with 620 Nm torque. Official combined fuel use sits between 4.5 and 5.0 litres per 100 km according to tyre choice, with CO2 from 119 g/km. The tank holds about 78 litres.
Servicing follows BMW Condition Based Service. Oil and filter changes are indicated by the system, typically at intervals up to 30,000 km or two years. Brake fluid is due every two years. Cabin filter and other items link to oil services.
Safety kit starts with a full set of airbags for driver, passenger, sides and both seat rows plus a driver knee bag. DSC, ABS and related brake functions are standard. The Carbon Core body structure adds strength while cutting weight. Optional Driving Assistant packages add collision warning, lane control and more.
