BMW 4 Series 2013–2020 dimensions, tows 1,600 kg

Braked towing is 1,600 kg.

BMW 4 Series 2013–2020 car dimensions: 4638 mm long, 1825 mm wide and 1384 mm high. Unladen weight is 1,680 kg. Braked towing is 1,600 kg.

The cabin has a standard one-zone automatic climate control and a 6.5-inch colour screen run by the iDrive controller. Cruise control with brake function, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, lane departure warning, collision warning with city braking and blind-spot warning sit in options or packages. Higher lines or packages bring two-zone climate. No factory Apple CarPlay or Android Auto appears in 2014 European specs.

Boot holds 370 litres with the hardtop up and drops to 220 litres with the roof down. A loading aid lifts the folded roof for easier access. Rear seats offer a through-load option.

Braked towing capacity is 1600 kg and unbraked 745 kg on the 428i. Payload sits around 450-460 kg depending on exact variant. No heavy-duty cooling or reinforced suspension is listed for work use.

The cabin feels snug and quiet with the three-piece metal hardtop closed, aided by a sound-absorbing headliner that cuts wind noise. Electrically adjustable front seats come standard with heating and Dakota leather that uses sun-reflective technology to stay cooler. Sport seats on higher trims add side bolster adjustment for better hold. An optional Air Collar blows warm air at the neck for open-top drives in cooler weather, while a wind deflector reduces buffeting.

Fuel tank holds approximately 60 litres.

Combined fuel use listed near 6.8 l/100 km depending on transmission and tyres.

Service intervals follow Condition Based Service indicated by the onboard system.

Standard safety includes front and side airbags with head protection, seatbelt tensioners, rollover bars and DSC with ABS.

No dedicated Euro NCAP rating for this convertible body.

The 428i petrol engine delivers solid efficiency for a four-cylinder turbo convertible. Official combined consumption sits in the mid-6 litre range per 100 km on the EU cycle, varying slightly with manual or automatic gearbox and wheel choice. A 60-litre tank supports reasonable range for touring.

Servicing uses BMW’s Condition Based Service system. The car monitors oil quality, brake wear and other items then displays remaining distance or time. Typical oil service falls around every 30 000 km or 24 months in European markets, though actual intervals depend on driving style.

Safety kit centres on dual front airbags, integrated side and head airbags, three-point belts with front tensioners and force limiters, plus an automatic rollover protection system that deploys steel bars in milliseconds. Stability control, ABS, brake assist and a tyre defect indicator are standard. The convertible itself was not crash-tested by Euro NCAP.

Living with the car means enjoying a stiff body and quiet hardtop that make it usable year-round. Run-flat tyres are usual, so no spare wheel is carried. Regular CBS-guided maintenance and attention to the complex roof mechanism keep it reliable.
