Braked towing is 1,600 kg.

BMW 3 Series 2012–2018 car dimensions: 4624 mm long, 1811 mm wide and 1429 mm high. Unladen weight is 1,465 kg. Braked towing is 1,600 kg.

The cabin has automatic climate control as standard, often single-zone on base grades and two-zone on SE and above. Cruise control with brake function is standard. A 6.5-inch colour control display is standard for the iDrive system, with larger screens and navigation on higher packs. Parking sensors, reversing camera, lane departure warning, blind-spot/lane-change warning and collision warning with braking form part of optional Driving Assistant or Comfort packages on early cars and become more common or standard on later LCI grades and higher trims. Apple CarPlay arrives as a late optional extra. Android Auto is not offered.

Boot space is 495 litres with seats up and expands to 1500 litres with the 40/20/40 split rear seats folded. The tailgate has an independently opening rear window and automatic operation on many grades.

Braked towing capacity is 1600 kg and unbraked 695 kg on the 320i Touring, with 75 kg nose weight. Payload is 550 kg DIN. Roof load is 75 kg. No dedicated heavy-duty cooling or reinforced suspension packages appear in the published specs for this model. M Sport suspension is a trim or option focused on handling rather than load work.

The cabin feels driver-focused and more spacious than the prior generation, with extra rear knee and head room plus a versatile 40:20:40 split rear bench. Dual-zone climate control is standard and materials are solid. Optional power seats with memory, sport seats offering bolster adjustment, heated front and rear seats, and a panoramic glass roof that brightens the interior and opens for fresh air make longer trips easier. Isolation from noise and vibration is good on the five-link rear axle.

2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo petrol engine with Auto Start-Stop and ECO PRO mode

Condition Based Service system sets oil and maintenance intervals by usage

Five-star Euro NCAP rating with strong adult and child scores

Standard DSC with ABS, ASC, DTC, CBC, DBC plus front, side and head airbags for all rows

Seatbelt tensioners and force limiters at front, tyre pressure indicator

The 320i Touring runs a refined 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol unit. Auto Start-Stop and ECO PRO mode help keep consumption down on mixed routes while still delivering strong low-end pull.

Servicing follows BMW’s Condition Based Service system, which monitors oil condition, brakes and other items to set the next interval according to how the car is driven. Owners often prefer more frequent oil changes than the maximum CBS limit for longevity.

Safety is strong. The generation earned a full five-star Euro NCAP result. Standard kit includes driver and passenger front airbags, side airbags, full-length head airbags, three-point belts with front pretensioners and force limiters, DSC stability control with ABS and related functions, crash sensors and a tyre defect indicator. Active Protection prepares belts and closes windows if a collision is likely. Later updates added more assistance systems as standard on some markets.

The car is practical to live with thanks to the low load sill, power tailgate with separate rear window opening, and 495-to-1500-litre boot. Keep up with CBS prompts, check run-flat tyre condition where fitted, and the Touring remains a reliable everyday companion.
