Higher grades or options add dual-zone climate, cruise control with braking function, rear or front/rear parking sensors, a larger 8.8-inch screen with iDrive Touch, rear-view camera, and the Driving Assistant package that includes collision warning with city braking, lane departure warning and related aids. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not factory-supported on this generation.

Braked towing capacity is rated at 1300 kg and unbraked at 650 kg, with a 75 kg trailer nose weight limit. Payload is 565 kg. A detachable towbar is available as an option and includes Trailer Stability Control.
The cabin feels driver-focused and sporty with solid build quality. Standard seats offer manual adjustment and cloth trim, while higher grades add sports seats with bolster support. Automatic single-zone climate control, a multifunction leather steering wheel and sliding front armrest come as base. Optional electric seats, heating and a glass sunroof improve daily comfort without making the space feel large.
Combined fuel use 5.0-5.4 l/100 km NEDC depending on wheels and gearbox, Euro 6, CO2 112-126 g/km.
Condition Based Service monitors oil and wear. maximum interval 30 000 km or 24 months.
Euro NCAP 5 stars from 2012 test (adult 91%, child 83%).
Standard kit includes DSC with ABS ASC DTC, front side and curtain airbags, tyre pressure monitoring, seatbelt tensioners.
The 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol returns official combined figures of 5.0 to 5.4 litres per 100 km on the NEDC cycle used in Europe at the time, with CO2 between 112 and 126 g/km depending on transmission and tyre size. Real-world use sits higher but the engine stays frugal on longer runs when driven gently.
Servicing follows BMW Condition Based Service. Sensors track oil quality and component wear so the car tells you when work is due. The longest gap is 30 000 km or two years. Oil changes and brake fluid are the main recurring items.
Crash protection earned a full five stars from Euro NCAP in 2012. Standard safety covers electronic stability control with multiple sub-functions, six airbags, force-limiters and pretensioners on the front belts plus tyre-pressure warning. Optional packs added lane departure and collision warning.
Keeping the car means watching the CBS display and using approved long-life oil. Run-flat tyres were common so a compressor kit is usual instead of a spare. Regular brake and fluid checks keep costs predictable on this generation.
