The 1.8 CC runs on normal petrol from an 80-litre tank. Published combined figures sit between roughly 7 and 10 l/100 km, giving long range on a full tank for the era. Highway use is thriftier than town driving thanks to the low-drag shape.

Routine care centres on oil and filter changes plus the cambelt. Benzine models need the timing belt at about 90 000 km or every eight to ten years. Power steering, when fitted, needs checks for leaks. Parts for suspension, brakes and injection can be scarce and costly on later high-mileage cars.

Standard safety kit includes front disc brakes, rear drums, rear headrests and a centre rear lap belt. Procon-ten, which retracts the steering column and tightens belts in a frontal impact, arrived later in the run. Full galvanising from mid-1985 sharply cut corrosion risk. No star crash ratings appear in period records.

Keep the car by watching screen frames, wheel arches, sills and the tank area even on galvanised examples. Soft suspension and light body need sound dampers and bushes for comfort. Regular servicing keeps the simple four-cylinder reliable for high mileages.
