Alpine A110 1962–1977 dimensions

Alpine A110 1962–1977 car dimensions: 3850 mm long, 1550 mm wide and 1120 mm high. Unladen weight is 790 kg.

The cabin is snug and spartan with two low bucket seats in black skai. Black carpet covers the floor and front luggage area. The dashboard holds five chrome-ringed dials with a large tachometer and speedometer plus gauges for oil pressure, water temperature and battery charge. Pull-buttons control ventilation, the fan and rear window defroster. No electronic driver aids are fitted.

Luggage space is scarce. A front compartment exists for bags but is often taken by a large fuel tank and spare wheel, leaving little practical room.

The car is a lightweight two-seat sports coupe. No towing capacities are published. Competition versions offered special suspension but the road cars are not set up for work or heavy loads.

The cabin is snug and spartan with two low bucket seats in black vinyl that recline. The semi-reclined driving position feels surprisingly comfortable with excellent visibility. Five chrome-rimmed dials sit ahead, with basic pull-buttons for ventilation, fan and rear window defroster. A leather-wrapped wheel and long floor-mounted gear lever keep the focus on driving in this minimal motorsport-style interior.

Petrol fuel with carbureted engines

Consumption 6 to 7 litres/100 km on 1300 VC

Disc brakes front, drums or discs rear by version

Mechanical parts largely from Renault production cars

Simple design allows owner servicing

The A110 uses petrol in its range of four-cylinder engines. Consumption sits at 6 to 7 litres per 100 km for the 1300 VC in normal use.

Servicing benefits from mechanical simplicity and shared Renault components. Carburetors need regular checks and adjustment. Oil changes should be frequent. The alternator belt is a known weak point that needs watching.

Braking uses discs at the front with drums or discs at the rear depending on the model year and version. Seat belts are fitted. The low weight and agile handling help avoid trouble rather than relying on modern aids.

The fibreglass body does not rust but can develop cracks. The steel backbone chassis needs inspection for corrosion especially at body and suspension mounts. Most mechanical parts are easy to source from Renault stock while Alpine-specific trim may need fabrication. The car is straightforward to keep on the road with basic care.
