The Standard comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen that runs vehicle functions and supports Apple CarPlay plus an EasyConnection app for Android phones. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot warning and a 360-degree camera system with rear view are all fitted as standard, along with parking sensors.
Boot space measures 432 litres with the rear seats up and expands to 1555 litres when they are folded. A small front compartment holds charging cables.
A detachable tow bar is available, approved for 1500 kg braked and 750 kg unbraked. Payload sits at around 415 kg. The car suits everyday family use and light trailer work with its standard disc brakes all round.

The U5 runs purely on electricity from its 63 kWh pack. Official WLTP figures show combined use of 16.6-17 kWh per 100 km and a range of 400-410 km depending on trim.

Crash protection earned 3 Euro NCAP stars in 2019, with 73 percent for adult occupants, 70 percent for children, 45 percent for vulnerable road users and 55 percent for safety assist.
